Dr. Maryam Fatouraei

I’m Dr. Maryam Fatouraei — the founder and optometrist at Optimize Vision Care here in Holliston, MA. I’ve always believed that great eye care should come from a place of compassion, deep knowledge, and genuine connection. For me, this work isn’t just a profession — it’s a purpose I’ve poured my heart into.

My Educational Journey

I earned my Doctor of Optometry (OD) from MCPHS University, and I’m proud to be nationally board certified in optometry. Before that, I completed two bachelor’s degrees — one in Biotechnology & Bioinformatics and another in Computer Science — blending my love of science and innovation.

I’ve also received specialized certifications in:

• Myopia Management (MiSight, VTI, and CRT/Ortho-K)
• Dry Eye Treatment using InMode/Envision IPL and RF therapy
• Scleral Contact Lens Fitting for complex corneal needs

Research Has Always Been Close to My Heart

Before becoming an optometrist, I worked in academic and clinical research — including:

• Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP) research at UMass Medical School
• Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) at Massachusetts General Hospital
• Infectious disease research at Houston Methodist Research Institute

Clinical Experience You Can Trust

I’ve had the privilege of training in diverse clinical settings — including:

• Plantation Street VA Clinic in Worcester (eye disease management)
• Edward M. Kennedy Community Health Center (primary eye care)
• Eye & Vision Center in Worcester (pediatric and binocular vision care)

These experiences taught me how to treat a wide range of conditions while truly listening to every patient’s needs.

My Story, My Passion

I came to the United States Of America as an immigrant with a dream to help others. The journey wasn’t always easy — but every step has made me more grateful, more driven, and more committed to making a difference. That’s why I opened Optimize Vision Care — to create a space where science meets heart, and where patients always feel seen, heard, and cared for.

I also stay involved in the community, volunteering during eye care emergencies and supporting local outreach efforts whenever I can. Because eye care should be accessible, compassionate, and truly life-enhancing.
